The Bayeux Tapestry, a unique document, is in fact a wool embroidery on linen fabric, produced during the 11th century. Around 70m long and 50cm high, it tells the story of the Norman Conquest of England on the 14th of October 1066 by William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy. Audio-guided tour of the tapestry. Exhibitions and audiovisual displays. Unaccompanied tour lasts 1 to 2 hours. The site was awarded the 'Trophées du Tourisme' tourist trophies in 2008.
