"Through its collections of archaeology and ethnography, the museum traces man's cultural development over the whole of historic Normandy, from its origins to the present day. The permanent exhibition deals with three main themes: habitat, technology and beliefs, which feature in the course of the three parts of the tour of the museum: 'From prehistory to the Vikings', 'Man and the soil' and 'Man and materials'. The museum also houses temporary exhibitions in a programme of collaboration with other museums and cultural institutions in Normandy, the rest of France and throughout the world. Time required for unaccompanied tour or guided tour in French or English 1-1½ hr.
